Thrill seeker. Adventure Junkie. Adrenaline Junkie. Call yourself anything you want. But if you want an activity that can truly provide you with a unique combination of thrill, adventure, and adrenaline, then you should try bungee jumping.
Picture yourself standing at the end of a tall structure. You look down and hundreds of meters below, river water rushes by or you see green vegetation in all its glory. You jump off the structure, head first into the unknown with only a long rubber rope attached to your ankles for safety. Excitement rushes in, fear rushes in, and adrenaline floods your system. Some would say it’s exciting, others would say crazy. For some, it’s the best thing they’ve ever done.
If all of the above appeals to you, then it’s time you go bungee jumping. Bungee jumping has been around for some time and has become one of the most popular adrenaline sports around today. There are several bungee jumping destinations around the world and this article focuses on places you can go bungee jumping in The Volunteer State – Tennessee. Here we go.
Track Recreation Center in Pigeon Forge
- Website: funatthetrack.com
The Track Recreation Center in Pigeon Forge is your best bet for bungee jumping in Tennessee. There’s a 65-foot-tall platform used for bungee jumping at the recreation center and you get to soar through the air like a bird. You have to weigh between 80 and 240 pounds before you can jump.
Elastic bungee cords are attached to the ankles of bungee jumpers for safety. High-quality cords are used and you can take the leap of faith knowing the equipment is in excellent condition. Sometimes, chest harnesses are used in place of ankle cords.
Other Adrenaline Activities You Can Do in Tennessee
Riding a Zipline
Ziplining is an interesting sport you should consider if you live in Tennessee. Some people think ziplining isn’t intense but all you have to do is to use longer and steeper ziplines. And, you’ll find yourself racing at speeds of up to 100 mph. And your body will be flooded with good ol’ adrenaline. You’ll get a lot of airtime and zoom past open forest canopies and rivers. The view is breathtaking and you get to see nature in all its glory. You can also do that in Pigeon Forge, among other locations.
Climbing Mt. LeConte
Climbing Mt. LeConte is something every Tennessee resident should do at least once. You don’t need advanced or any actual climbing skills to climb the mountain. The route to the peak of LeConte is more of a long and scenic hike. And I like that there are five different trails to the peak of the mountain.
Each trail offers its own challenges and you can make multiple trips to the mountain. And, take a different route each time. When you get to the top of the mountain, you’ll be rewarded with a beautiful view.
Whitewater Rafting in Hartford
Hartford, Tennessee, is home to several whitewater rafting outfitters. These outfitters provide guided rafting trips on whitewater rapids such as the Big Pigeon or the Ocoee. Whitewater rafting is interesting and bound to get your blood pumping.
