Bungee jumping is right up there amongst the commonest extreme sports practiced in the world today. Unlike some other extreme sports that require hours of rigorous training before even attempting it. You do not need any special training whatsoever before engaging in one of the scariest sports. All you need to enjoy the sport is heart and let go! There are many who pass out during the jump, those people do not get the euphoria that comes with this action sport. However, even though it’s an extreme sport. It is relatively safe.
It involves just jumping into the open space from a cliff or a mountain. You basically surrender your life to the rope attached to your ankle. It is the rope or better still elastic cord that gives the awesome rebound after the great leap.
Having bungee jumped a couple of times let me share my view of the sport. You get to see things differently. Those structures you consider gigantic, appear so small. Basically, when you are 400 feet above, everything seems so tiny. You do not need to be an adventure junkie before you engage in this sport. It’s one enjoyable sport, all you need to do is trust yourself. Then you “take the leap of faith”! If you are afraid of heights, it is perhaps the best means of ridding yourself of that fear. The adrenaline rush the jump provides is all you need.
There are very few states in the US with bungee jumping opportunities. Unfortunately, West Virginia isn’t one of those states. However, there are a couple of companies in neighboring states with amazing spots for the sport. All you need is to take a road trip, which I believe is worth it. I mean, a trip of about 100 miles to get perhaps one of the best feelings ever. It’s definitely worth it!
