5 Tips on How to Travel if You Study Full-Time

What happens if you’re someone with an insatiable appetite for travel, but can’t see yourself doing so for several years or more?

That could be you when you are a full-time college student, and you manage to jet off to explore much of the world in your spare time.

But what spare time? You may be asking. The key to traveling more is to make it your priority. Here’s how you can do it. Make sure you read through to the end, where I discuss ways to afford it, too!

Get Help with Your Studies

Balancing full-time study in college with the demands of travel can be a challenging endeavor. This is where essay writing services come into the picture, often responding to students’ pleas to “write my essay for me“. These services offer a lifeline to students who are constantly on the move and struggling to find the time and space to focus on their academic assignments.

Whether you’re traveling for leisure, participating in study abroad programs, or attending international fashion events, an essay writing service ensures that your academic obligations don’t fall by the wayside.

They provide professional assistance, helping you meet deadlines and maintain academic performance while you pursue your passion for travel. With such services, you can enjoy your travels without compromising on your education.

Make the Most of Weekends

One of the easiest ways to fit more travel into an already busy life is to utilize your weekends. There’s so much to explore in the United States that there’s no end of places to fill up your spare time.

Why not head to the Grand Canyon one weekend? Or fly to Portland to eat for a couple of days? What about a hiking trip to Colorado? Or a music-themed weekend in New Orleans?

Set yourself a goal of traveling on a weekend a couple of weeks in the future, and work extra hard at college to give yourself the free time to explore without homework hanging over you.

Spring Break is Perfect, Too

Spring Break is all about taking a break from work and letting off some steam, so why not use your allotted time to explore somewhere further afield than North/Central America?

If you’re one of the lucky students to receive two weeks’ vacation time, why not head to cheap Southeast Asia and spend two weeks island hopping around Thailand? Yes, it’s expensive to get to, but while you’re there, you can get by on as little as $30 a day while receiving a great quality of life.

Plan a Big Trip for Your Summer Vacation

The summer is the perfect time for planning a big adventure, and I’d often take advantage of that two-month-long break to explore new regions of Europe.

While two months can sound hideously expensive, you’ll be surprised how cheap you can travel around parts of Europe if you’re doing it on a budget. Take Eastern Europe, for example.

In Eastern Europe, you can find a bed in a dorm room hostel for less than $10 a night, food comes in at around $10 a day, and transportation from country to country rarely costs more than $20, either. Think about how much you spend at home daily, and it’s likely to be much more.

If Europe still seems too expensive, what about spending a couple of months traveling down Central America? This part of the world is less touristy than Europe and Southeast Asia and remains incredibly cheap. You could get by on as little as $15 a day if you avoided Belize and Costa Rica and prioritized time in Nicaragua and Honduras.

Sign Up for a Study Abroad Program

Of course, one of the easiest ways to travel as a full-time student is to change your current location through a study abroad program. For anything from a semester to an entire year, you’ll be living in a different country with a new language and culture to explore.

For instance, many students choose to live in student housing in Netherlands (if the college is in the same country), where they can immerse themselves in Dutch culture while having easy access to other parts of Europe. Similarly, studying in Japan can offer a unique blend of tradition and modernity, while student life in Australia provides the chance to explore stunning landscapes and vibrant cities.

Now, to make the most out of your study abroad experience, consider the following tips:

  1. Choose an Ideal Program: Select a study program that aligns with your academic goals and interests.
  2. Immerse Yourself in the Culture: Take the time to explore your surroundings, learn the local language, and interact with the locals.
  3. Plan Ahead: Be aware of the deadlines and do as much work as possible before going away.
  4. Stay Open-Minded: Embrace new experiences and challenges that come your way.

Studying While Traveling

Traveling while studying can be a challenge, but with the right techniques and resources, it can become an enriching experience. One of the keys to successful studying while traveling is staying focused. Here are some techniques to help you maintain focus:

  1. Know Your Schedule: Be familiar with your assessment and study timetable. Planning your travel around your study schedule can help you make sure that you have enough time to study.
  2. Choose Your Study Time Wisely: Utilize long plane rides or car trips as an opportunity to study. Also, consider setting aside specific times during the day for studying.
  3. Pace Yourself: Don’t try to cram all you’re studying into one session. Break up your study sessions into manageable chunks of time.

In addition to these techniques, several online resources and tools can assist you with studying on the go:

  1. Online Content: Keep e-books, podcasts, or notes online, so you can access them anywhere.
  2. Self-Paced Courses: Choose a self-paced course of study that allows you to learn at your speed.
  3. Productivity Apps: Use apps like Freedom or Cold Turkey Blocker to help you stay focused on your work.
