A trip to Bali wouldn’t be complete without a walk in the gorgeous terraces it possesses. It definitely is a must-see. Along with the ones of Jatiluwih, the terraced rice fields of Tegallalang are probably the most famous. Located north of Ubud, in the center of Bali, Tegallalang is also a renown handicraft village. The whole area has become a very touristic spot. You may be tempted to buy a few souvenirs, do not hesitate to bargain! There are no fixed prices.
Take off your shoes and follow the warm muddy path down the terraces and you will find yourself surrounded with lush greenery and a very quiet atmosphere. Some farmers might be working in the paddies around, for a perfect postcard picture.
When you are done with you walk, sit down at a restaurant overlooking the rice fields to have a drink or a meal.
It is quite easy to access the rice fields by renting a car with a driver from Ubud or other cities in the south of Bali, like Sanur. From Ubud, the driving time is around half an hour.
